PLEASE READ THIS FILE BEFORE INSTALLING AND USING THE DIGITAL CHISEL.
Before Installing The Digital Chisel
1. Quit any open applications.
2. Turn off any security systems such as virus protection software or volume locking software such as At Ease.
3. Disable non-Apple INIT's or system extensions (System 7.x).
Note: If you are still having problems, try installing the software on another machine if possible. If the problem is due to a machine's configuration, then installing to another machine should be successful.
To install The Digital Chisel
1. Double-click on the icon labeled "Digital Chisel Install".
2. When the installer window appears, drag the icon labeled "Recommended"
to your hard drive (listed on the right hand side of the window).
3. When the installation is complete, click "Restart" which will restart your computer.
Restarting your computer enables the Quicktime movie player and the
text-to-speech Speech Manager. It also allows you to rebuild your desktop.
This option will install the entire Digital Chisel software set on your hard drive
and will consume about 9MB of disk space. Included in this installation are the
Apple Speech Manager and QuickTime extensions. You may also install these
extensions individually by selecting the "Show other installations" button in
the top left corner of the installer window.
Rebuilding the system desktop after installing The Digital Chisel.
This is done by restarting your Macintosh while holding down the option key and the command key. Continue to hold them down until a message appears asking if you wish to rebuild your desktop file.
Note: A message appears stating that all comments that you have typed into comment fields in the "Get Info" boxes will be lost - this is normal Macintosh operation.
Rebuilding your desktop takes a few minutes to complete.
Memory Allocation Reminder.
Set The Digital Chisel memory partition to 4 megabytes or more if your system has the necessary amount of RAM available. This is carried out by highlighting The Digital Chisel application in the Finder and selecting "Get Info" from the File menu.
The Digital Chisel Multimedia Library
The Digital Chisel CD comes with a large Multimedia Library. Due to the total size of these files, they have not been installed onto your hard disk.
Manual Now On CD!
The Digital Chisel Reference Manual is located on this CD-ROM. To view or print the Reference Manual simply open the "Manual" folder on this CD-ROM, then double-click a chapter you wish to see.
